The children dressed up in Roman costumes, re-enacted the Roman invasion and road building on the beach, and enjoyed a day of activities. Favourite activities included code breaking (deciphering a hidden message written in Roman numerals) and mosaic making.

Annie Fuller, Head of Years 3 and 4 at Bede’s Prep, says, “The highlight of the day was the Roman Feast prepared by the School’s catering team, Holroyd Howe. On the menu was chicken cooked in a fruit sauce, goats cheese, hard boiled eggs, olives, lentils and a selection of salads. For desert, there was a delicious egg custard and a Roman porridge.

“Everyone had a fun-packed day and learned a lot about Roman history and culture.”
