Bedford School Sixth Former Tom Pelling’s flair for Maths has seen him recognised nationally. Tom was recently awarded a gold medal from the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) for his outstanding performance in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge which took place just before Christmas.

Tom achieved 100% in the first round, which meant that he was invited to sit the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 (BMO1). Tom achieved an incredible 49 out of 60, which earned him the medal and placed him in the top 16 mathematicians in the country for his age group. It also gave Tom automatic entry to the BMO2, which he will sit at the end of January.
