Children from Belmont School near Dorking have this term been studying rivers and flooding in Geography. They have spent a few weeks looking at why floods occur, what their impacts are and how flooding can be prevented.

As part of their studies, children visited the Thames Barrier in London where they had a guided tour and talk and then took part in an educational activity. One particular area of focus is the impact of rising sea levels on the effectiveness of the flood barrier.
