Young scientists from Monmouth finished third in their the semi-final of a national quiz competition.

The team from Monmouth School Boys’ Prep were just five points off second place in a very tough Quiz Club semi-final at Redmaids in Bristol.

Captain Cameron Hughes was joined by Hugh Major, Oscar Searle and Aston Singh-Chand for the quiz team, organised and supervised by Dr Sion Wall, science teacher and co-ordinator.

The winning team from each semi-final automatically seals a place at the national finals in Oxford along with the highest scoring four non-winning teams.

Monmouth, who previously won their area heat in the National Inter-School Science Quiz Championship, will be hoping to sneak into the final.
