The children at St. Andrew’s have been busy raising money for their chosen House charities this term and were honoured to welcome Nigel Blair MBE to receive a cheque from Clubs House on behalf of The Eikon Charity.

The Eikon Charity was chosen by Clubs House as it provides a variety of vital support programmes to over 2,500 vulnerable young people in schools and communities in Surrey, such as Eikon’s Youth Specialist Programme that places fully trained youth work professionals into secondary schools on a full-time basis.  The St. Andrew’s children raised funds to support this crucial work through a whole school mufti day and massive cake sale that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The children at St. Andrew’s were delighted to hear more about the charity in their House assembly and to learn from Mr Blair where the funds raised will be used to support the youth programmes. Mr Nigel Blair MBE was a founder trustee of The Eikon Charity in 2003 and then chair of the charity from 2005-2014. He received his MBE in the Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours for services to young people.

Having been presented with the cheque from the school, Mr Blair commented: “We are very grateful to Clubs House for supporting Eikon in helping to make a difference in our work with local young people.”

The other charity chosen by Clubs House was LinkAble who are a Woking-based charity providing sports, social and recreational activities for children and adults with a broad range of learning disabilities.
