8th June 2021 — Reigate Grammar School have announced that their Combined Cadet Force have been named as the winner for the Most Outstanding Service Personnel in Lockdown, in association with the Invictus Games Foundation in the Armed Forces Community Lockdown Awards hosted by Pathfinder International.
The CCF Unit has had an incredible year despite dealing with the constraints of Covid.
Activities have included a Field Day at Tilgate Park in October, a Poppy Run which raised over £500 and involvement in Operation Bletchley which also raised another £500 for the ABF - The Soldiers’ Charity.
Led by Contingent Commander, Lieutenant Andy Pruvost, the RGS CCF has seen an increase in numbers over the year.
The CCF offers young people a broad range of challenging, exciting and adventurous activities; personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline are the core values.
With a recent affiliation secured with the Grenadier Guards, RGS CCF will offer new levels of opportunity including field trips to Buckingham Palace and regimental workshops.
RGS was honoured to be the only CCF and overall Cadet unit shortlisted in these awards.
Lieutenant Pruvost commented: "I’m incredibly proud of our contingent. They are a pleasure to work with and they deserve this nomination."
Headmaster, Mr Fenton said: "Mr Pruvost continues to make an excellent contribution to the school and his dedication to our CCF is impressive. I have no doubt the CCF will continue to go from strength to strength."
