Following his successful appointment in July 2021, James Mercer-Kelly has joined as Headteacher at The Kingsley School in Royal Leamington Spa.

Mr Mercer-Kelly is a passionate advocate of girls’ education, working at single-sex girls’ schools for the past sixteen years.

He is described as a highly skilled leader with a rare mix of pastoral and academic experience, having been Assistant Head (Pupil Development) at Headington School in Oxford before being appointed Senior Deputy Head at Wycombe Abbey School.

Sustaining the unique culture of The Kingsley School, which is a very special place for pupils, parents, staff and alumnae, is his number one priority.

Mr Mercer-Kelly understands Kingsley and the characteristics which make it so special, bringing a warmth which will resonate with the school’s highly-prized reputation for pastoral care and a commitment to ensuring all pupils have the best possible experience and range of opportunities during their lives at school.

Mr Mercer-Kelly said: "The Kingsley community has extended a sincere welcome to me this term and I have greatly enjoyed meeting our pupils, parents and staff.

"At Kingsley we work together so that we can overcome challenges, achieve greater goals than we could on our own, and we look after one another so that no-one is overlooked.

"It is a pleasure to be part of such a committed and caring environment, from our brilliant Prep School to our active Sixth Form."

He continued: "A new year with a new beginning is always a good chance to reflect.

"Here at Kingsley we are excited to learn from our wonderful heritage and look to the future to see what are the best educational opportunities we can give.

"I want all of our students to grow in confidence and be the best version of themselves as they complete their journey with us."
