13th January 2022 — The beginning of term has started well for St Francis School in Pewsey, who celebrate an incredible clutch of music exam results.
At the end of last term, and with a full calendar of all the musical events that Christmas brings, seven St Francis pupils put their nerves to one side and undertook their ABRSM exams. The exams, which are the official exams of the Royal Schools of Music, are considered the foundation of a solid career in music.
The pupils were examined in a variety of instruments, including clarinet and piano, and at a range of grades. An outstanding six of the results were either at a distinction or merit level!
Kay Francis, Director of Music at St Francis, enthused “I am so proud of these pupils for their brilliant results. The Autumn term is really quite long, and musically tiring as we have multiple events such as the Carol Service, which require our musicians to be at the top of their game. These pupils did brilliantly, and some of them really extended themselves by taking these exams, not to mention the absolutely outstanding results they were awarded.”
