There were some fantastic performances at the Prior Park Schools Biathlon 2017, held at the University of Bath Sports Village at the end of last week.
The British Modern Biathlon series of competitions are a great starting point for athletes wishing to get involved in an exciting multi-discipline sport. It consists of a separate swim and run for children from under 10 through to under 17, with the distances depending on the competitor's age.
Prior Park Schools run this event in conjunction with Pentathlon GB and actively encourage as many schools as possible to enter their pupils. In fact, with nearly 450 young athletes taking part, from 44 different schools, this is one of the largest biathlon events in the country.
We were honoured to have British modern pentathletes, Jamie Cooke, Joe Choong and Jo Muir on hand to present the children with their medals throughout the day.
The results have been added to the National Schools Biathlon List and we predict that many will be invited to compete at the National Schools Biathlon Championships later in the year.
Kate Allenby MBE, organiser of the event commented: “It is a fantastic opportunity for students to compete in a large scale event at the University of Bath and we hope that they will continue to enjoy participating in Biathlon's for many years to come. Thank you to all of the schools that took part and congratulations to all of the competitors for their fantastic performances in the pool and on the track.”
