Competing against other 8-9 year olds, Jonty had to enter five dives, and much like the Olympic competition, had one attempt at each. His dives, each of which had an increasing difficulty tariff, were then scored by three judges. He achieved a magnificent score of 66.40 and won gold.

Jonty has been diving for just over a year and is a member of Eastbourne Swimming Club Dive Team, coached by Tony Gaskell. He was inspired by Tom Daley in the 2016 Rio Olympics whom he was fortunate enough to meet earlier this year.

Giles Entwisle, Headmaster of Bede’s Prep School said “I am really proud of Jonty’s achievements and his endeavour to pursue diving outside of School, I am sure he has a bright future ahead of him.”
