Beechwood Park Fencers Qualify for British Youth Championships

Three fencers from Beechwood Park School took enjoyed considerable success after taking part in the Eastern Region Fencing Championships on Sunday 28th January.

The Regional Championships is a huge event with some 250 fencers competing.  Those who qualify will compete in the British Youth Championships, the pinnacle youth event for fencers. 

The Beechwood Park fencers did incredibly well, in particular Edward B who came 21st in the U14 Boys' Sabre.  In the U12 Girls' Sabre, Ava D came 6th and Josie R, 7th with the result that both girls go on to qualify for the British Youth Championships.

Director of Sport, Kylie-Paul Le Bas commented "Fencing is an important part of the Beechwood Park extra-curricular programme and we are fortunate to have Paul Davis Fencing Academy working with us. Paul coaches pupils in three clubs during the week: Junior, Middle and Senior and we now have three Beechwood Fencing teams who have begun to compete against other schools'.
