Dean Close U13 boys recently travelled to Millfield School in Somerset to compete in the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) National Hockey Championships and they won!

The team started the day a little nervously but soon got into their stride winning their first group that included the team that would eventually finish as runners-up, as well as teams that would go on to win the plate and bowl competitions. A 2-1 victory over Gresham's in the quarter final set up a semi-final against St Andrew’s Pangbourne. A 1-0 victory put the team in the final against Bilton Grange. It was closely fought, but the boys won following a good strike from a penalty corner.

Mr David Jones, their coach said, "I am absolutely thrilled! Over the previous couple years we have come so close, always reaching the finals but haven't won it since 2015. The boys played some outstanding hockey, defending well and playing as a formidable team, I couldn't be more proud!"
