Approximately 800-900 pupils participate in ISFA representative trials and events each season, making selection for an ISFA representative team place a hard-fought achievement. Merlin and Otis have been selected for the U18s; Matthew for the U17s and Jacob for the U16s.
Mr Matthew Carrington, Director of Football at Repton, commented: “It is a huge honour for the boys, their families and for the school. The team is having a tremendous season and these boys have been outstanding; it is great to see this recognised. All five are superb examples of how it is possible to combine a high level of football with academic opportunities. These boys are opening up pathways that would not have been accessible to them without education, whether in the UK or in the US College system.”
The selection of five Repton pupils for the ISFA Representative Teams caps a splendid term of football at Repton School. The Repton 1st X1 are through to the last 32 of the English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA) Cup, a competition in which 379 schools were entered, and to the Quarter Finals of the ISFA Cup. In the prestigious Hudl Independent Schools’ League, the 1st X1 are currently unbeaten. In its inaugural season, the Hudl League features eight independent schools: Bedes, Bradfield, Charterhouse, Hampton, Millfield, Repton, Royal Russell and Shrewsbury.
