The Under 12 Netball squad at James Allen’s Girl’s School (JAGS) is celebrating after winning the county championship for the first time in the school’s history.

After finishing undefeated in the preliminary rounds earlier this year, JAGS qualified for the Surrey School’s Netball finals, which took place on 8th March at Wallington High School for Girls.

The girls secured the title of Surrey champions after a hard fought 6 – 4 win in the final against Guildford High School who had beaten them 4 - 3 during the round robin stage earlier in the day. The teams matched each other goal for goal in the first half which ended all square at 3 apiece. After a positive half time team talk, the girls took to the court determined for a last big push to reverse the previous result and outscored their opponents 3 – 1 in a tense second half to claim the county title for the first time.

Earlier in the day, JAGS secured victories in the round robin stages against St George’s School, Reigate Grammar, Lingfield College, Wimbledon High School, Royal Russell School and Priors Field School as well as the loss against Guildford. These results saw them proceed to a semi-final match against Epsom College which they won 8-6 to set up the rematch with Guildford in the final.
