James is an exceptionally talented lock and dominates the line-out at 6’6”. He represented Hereford at all levels up to the age of 15 when he made the move to Worcester Warriors to play in their Under 15 team. James joined Malvern College in the Sixth Form and has played for Malvern College and for Worcester Warriors since then.
Last season he played in a series of international matches first in the England Under 18s win over France at the beginning of March, then against Ireland in a hard-fought 39 - 20 victory for England, later in March in another England win over Scotland (31 - 17), and against a Canada Under 19 team. The game against the Welsh Under 18 was the only game that the young England side lost.
Named Man of the Match in the Ireland game, James played magnificently and he put in another commanding performance against Scotland. He shows great promise.
His former Master i/c Rugby at Malvern College, Nick Tisdale, says, “He is now included in the Under 20 England training side and we have great hopes for him. On leaving school James had gained three A levels, all at A grade, in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, and had also earned a two-year contract with Worcester Warriors - a brilliant performance all round.”
James says, “The important partnership between Malvern College and Worcester Warriors allowed me to continue to study for my A levels whilst I met my match commitments, even though I missed some of my lessons. The sustained support and understanding of the College staff enabled me to stay in control of my studies and helped me reach my long-term goal which is to play professional rugby”.
