In a week of unprecedented success, the girls’ teams added to their already outstanding tally of National Championship titles and secured Repton School’s accolade as the best hockey school in the country.
The U14s kicked off the National Finals campaign with victories over Sevenoaks and Sedbergh and a draw against Kingston Grammar, before defeating Surbiton High in a nail-biting final decided by penalties.
The U16s then did the double with a phenomenal 8-2 win in the semi-finals, followed by a well-fought match against Godolphin & Latymer in the final, ending in a 3-1 victory to take the Championship title.
Finally, the U18s battled it out against Millfield in their final and secured the treble sweep with a late goal from a penalty corner making the final score 1-0 to Repton.
Repton School’s Headmaster, Mr Alastair Land, commented: “This is an outstanding achievement by our girls and their coaches. We are extremely proud of their success right across the School, from our first year pupils to the most senior, which reflects their shared ambition and commitment to excellence.”
The clean sweep is a historic win in the Girls’ Schools Championships, with Repton School being the first to claim all three girls’ titles in the same year. The U14, U16 and U18 Boys’ hockey teams won all three National Titles in 2015 and Repton School has won more national titles than any other school in the country.
