Monmouth fencers Niamh Dorman and Ailsa Whitehead fought their way to medals at the Welsh Junior Foil Championships in Cardiff.

The two Monmouth School Girls’ Prep fencers showed excellent stamina and tremendous skill in the Girls’ Under-12 section at Sophia Garden on Sunday 8th April.

Niamh progressed to the final and clinched a silver medal, while Ailsa secured a bronze medal after the duo were pitted against each other in the semi-finals.

The talented duo were delighted with their medals and are already looking forward to their next competitions.

Earlier this year, Niamh, a Year 6 pupil, and Ailsa, from Year 5, shone at The Independent Schools Association (ISA) National Fencing Tournament in London.

Niamh carried off the Under 11 Girls’ Foil title and Ailsa took bronze in the same section at the impressive Leon Paul Fencing Centre against strong opposition.
