This September sees two exciting new developments at Sandroyd School. Firstly the School is undergoing an ambitious development of its Arts curriculum and facilities, under the direction of Sandroyd’s newly appointed Director of Performing Arts. Work is already underway on a new, state-of-the-art dance studio, which will play host to Sandroyd’s new dance curriculum which includes lessons in Ballet, Street Dance, Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz and Modern Dance. A brand new purpose built Art studio is also opening in November, to compliment Sandroyd’s award winning theatre.
The School is also launching its new ‘Strive’ programme which identifies, and then develops a raft of qualities sought by senior schools, universities and the world of work. From this term, the ‘Strive’ programme has become an integral part of every child’s curriculum at Sandroyd. There are over 50 different activities offered during daily timetabled ‘Strive’ sessions– all delivered by specialists in each area – ranging from inventing, to team building, and from debating to Mindfulness strategies.
Headmaster Alastair Speers comments, “On the back of some exceptional academic results last year, with one in four pupils leaving with a scholarship to their Senior School, it is essential that we also continue to enhance our co curricula provision for all pupils alongside our work in the classroom.”
