Culford School senior pupils were challenged to explore gender in today’s world.

During the ‘Gender in our modern world’ event on Saturday, the school hosted talks from multi award-winning fiction author Juno Dawson, who discussed the nature and role of gender and University of East Anglia’s Director of the Bachelor of Laws Programme, Polly Morgan who considered gender law. Former Culford pupil Melanie Okuneye of Goldman Sachs International returned to lead a discussion on the topic ‘Can I do that if I’m a girl?’

Polly Morgan enjoyed the morning with pupils and tweeted: “Lovely Saturday @culfordschool with @junodawson talking about gender in the real world. [I would be] very happy to host any Culfordians who want to explore what @uniofeastanglia and @uealaw have to offer.”

Sarah Haughey, Housemistress said: “The pupils found the event both immensely thought provoking and empowering. In a world where gender is increasingly hitting the front pages, it is important that we engage with our students to think and challenge the role of gender in society.”
