A new year of Senior School assemblies kicked off in style this week with a visit from Naqi Haider Rizvi. Naqi gave a TED talk back in 2015 and today he delivered a powerful and, at times, moving speech about embracing life’s challenges.

Naqi has been blind from congenital glaucoma since the age of seven and students found his talk compelling as he talked about the need to live by the “three Ps”:  passion, personality and perspective.

One Year 11 student commented, “Naqi lost his sight but not his vision; this was a fantastic lesson for us all.”

Naqi, who kindly took time off from his job as an industrial engineer to speak, received a rapturous and lengthy round of applause at the end of his speech and students and staff were noticeably inspired by his words. There simply could not have been a more motivating talk to start the new school year.
