Sally Crewe, a leading nutritionist at Holroyd Howe, recently visited Bede’s Prep to give a talk to Year 7 and 8 children about healthy eating.

The talk covered what constitutes a balanced diet and the types of foods that have health benefits, and crucially which foods to avoid.

The talk finished with a game called ‘The Guacamole Challenge’, which – as well as being fun to play – allowed the children to understand flavours and the balance of ingredients when making fresh food.

The talk was organised by Bede’s Prep’s Head of Catering, Darren Pierce, who says, “The talk was really well received by all the children who attended. Nutrition plays a massive part in our daily lives, and having someone unknown to the children educating them on eating the right foods certainly had the desired effect.

“Our thanks must go to Sally Crewe for her engaging and inspiring talk.”
